Emory University senior Rebecca Flink
(Loudonville, NY) has been named the University Athletic
Association Cross Country Co-Athlete of the Week following her
performance at the Jacksonville State Foothills Invitational last
weekend. Flink shares the honor with Joan Kanarkiewicz of New
York University. It marks the first time in her career that she has
earned the honor.
Flink helped the Eagles to a first-place finish out of ten teams at
the Invitational by pacing the 92-runner field with a 5K time of
18:45. Her effort spearheaded a strong overall team showing that
saw the Eagles place five runners among the top seven overall
finishers. Flink has been a model of consistency for Emory this
year, ranking among the team's top three runners in all four of the
team's competitions. In the season-opening meet of the
campaign, she paced the squad and finished sixth overall out of 110
competitors at the Sewanee Invitational.
The women's team, ranked 30th in the nation, returns to
action on October 17 when they participate in the Quaker
Invitational in Greensboro, North Carolina.
