Women’s Results
The Emory women’s cross country team competed at the
Southeast Classic in Rome, Ga., on Saturday and registered a
seventh-place finish out of 35 teams. Serving as the host of
the Classic was Berry College.
With the Eagles’ top performers sitting out and gearing up
for next weekend’s UAA Championships, the team finished with
219 points, just two points out of sixth place. Indiana
Wesleyan captured the top spot with 107 points, edging runner-up
Centre College’s 116 points. Embry-Riddle was third
(134 pts.) while Milligan College claimed fourth (138 pts.).
Emory saw its top four finishers place among the top 51-overall
entries, led by freshman Hannah Smith whose 5k time of 19:31 paced
the Eagles while ranking 30th overall out of 310
contestants. Classmate Ashley Stumvoll clocked a 19:32, good
for the 33rd spot, while another freshman, Marissa
Gogniat, came through with a 19:52, 50th in the
field. Senior Paulina Belsky was the fourth Emory
finisher with her 19:57 slotting her 51st. Junior
Calley Edwards rounded out the team’s scorers with her time
of 20:15 ranking 66th.
