Five Eagles Named UAA Athletes of the Week

Emory University student-athletes continued to rack up University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week awards, garnering five more weekly honors Monday afternoon as announced by the conference office.

Senior Kylie Hall from women's soccer earned her second weekly award of the season while junior Nolan Shah and freshman John Lasanajak from men's tennis collected their first of their careers as did sophomore Liyang Sun and freshman Emily Noll from the swimming & diving teams.

Hall contributed to four of the team's 10 goals this past week as the Eagles ran their winning streak to seven with wins over Oglethorpe and Chicago. Hall collected three more assists to give her a UAA-leading 13 on the season, establishing a new team record for most assists in a single season in the process. She now has at least one assist in seven straight games, the longest streak in Emory team history, and ranks first in the nation in assists per game at 1.30 and second in the country in total assists.

Shah and Lasanajak earned the men's tennis honor after impressive performances at the ITA Regionals over the weekend. Shah claimed the singles title with a dominating run through the draw, breezing through the his first four matches with straight set wins before defeating Sewanee's Jordan Theron 5-7, 6-0, 6-2 in the finals. In doubles, Shah and Lasanajak claimed the regional crown over teammates Charlie James and Ryan Glanville as Glanville had to retire due to an injury. Shah and Lasanajak won their first three matches by 8-3, 8-2, and 8-7 (2) margins before defeating Sewanee's Theron/Wickland 6-4, 6-7 (5), 10-7 in the semifinals to advance to the championship match. Both players will advance to this week's ITA Cup in Rome, Georgia.

Noll was one of four event winners for the Eagles in the dual match with DII powerhouse Queens University of Charlotte on Saturday. Noll won the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:04.10 and added second place finishes in both the 100 Backstroke (57.73) and 200 IM (2:10.59). Noll rounded out her meet by swimming leadoff as part of Emory's B relay in the 400 Medley, helping the team touch third at 3:58.25.

Sun was one of two event winners for the Emory men in their dual meet against Queens University of Charlotte on Saturday, winning the 100 Breaststroke at 56.43. In addition to his first place showing, Sun took second in the 200 Breast at 2:04.49 and was 11th in the 200 IM at 2:00.23. Sun also was part of the Eagles' top team in the 400 Medley Relay which finished second with a time of 3:23.46.
