The Emory University men's basketball team will open its season on Tuesday evening with a matchup against regional foe Piedmont. The Eagles, who come into the season receiving votes in the D3hoops.com Men's Top 25 poll and ranked third in the UAA Preseason Poll, will face off against the Lions at the Woodruff PE Center Tuesday evening at 7:30 PM. The Eagles hold a 14-3 all-time series advantage over the Lions including a current six-game winning streak, with the most recent win a 78-64 contest that opened the 2021-22 season. Despite losing their three highest scorers from the 2021-22 season, the Eagles come into this year with high expectations and that is largely thanks to sophomore Logan Shanahan who is coming off an excellent season in which he averaged 7.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game as he looks to step into a larger role this season.
