Swimming & Diving Leads NCAA with 51 CSCAA Scholar All-Americans

The Emory University swimming & diving team earned a NCAA-leading 51 Scholar All-America selections as announced by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) earlier this month for their athletic and academic pedigree during the 2022-23 season. Among the Eagles honored as CSCAA Scholar All-Americans, 28 were named to the to the First Team.

To be named to the First-Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes must achieve a minimum GPA of 3.50 and participate in their respective national championship. Second-Team selections also earned a GPA of 3.50 or higher and met the "B" time standard for the national championship or participated in a diving zone qualification meet.

The Emory men, who captured their second straight national championship in March, had 30 members of the team recognized, including 10 on the First Team, the most for any program across any of the three NCAA divisions. The Emory women, who secured a national runner-up finish this Spring, saw 21 members honored with 18 being tabbed to the First Team. The combined 51 total were the most combined for any NCAA instituition.

Earning First Team accolades for the Emory men were Sven Becker, Caden Bjornstad, Henri Bonnault, Jeff Echols, Ryan Gibbons, Will Kohn, Justin Lum, Jake Meyer, Pat Pema and Crow Thorsen.

For the women, their First Team selections included Marianne Allard, Fiona Arwood, Moshelle Borjigin, Penelope Celtnieks, Sloane Donovan, Rosalie Gaudiani, Anna Glowniak, Penelope Helm, Isabel Huang, Ali Kaiser, Sammie Kass, Ariana Khan, Tess Klugherz, Taylor Leone, Meredith Liu, Caroline Maki, Savannah Sowards and Caroline Zhu.

Those included on the Second Team roster were Jason Amato, Johnny Bradshaw, Adam Braunschweig, Adam Copses, Logan D'Amore, Jeffrey deGroot, Jeffrey George, Josh Giardinelli, Willem Goedecke, Anderson Holcomb, Patrick Horton, William Kerscher, Kory Kimura, Nolan Lahmann, Cooper Muench, Lawrence Redmond, William Schuler, Davis Shelton, Jake Wessell, Dylan Yin for the men and Sarah Daly, Emily Noll and Jane Sanderson for the women.

Both men's and women's teams were also recognized by the CSCAA at the end of June for academic excellence. The women posted a team GPA of 3.65 with the men checking in at 3.62.
