Three Eagles Chosen as UAA Athletes of the Week

Three Emory University student-athletes were chosen as University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week for the week of March 11-17.

Seniors Kenya Sei and Lily Taylor highlighted the track & field programs while senior Page Nellis earned Hitter of the Week acclaim for softball. For Sei, this marked his fourth career weekly honor and second of his senior season. For Nellis, she picks up her third career honor and first during the 2024 season while Taylor collects her first-ever weekly selection.

Sei started the outdoor season breaking another program record and helping the Emory men's program take first at the Emory Spring Break Classic this past weekend at Morehouse College. He took home the top spot in the hammer throw with a distance of 57.60m breaking his previous record of 54.96m set last season. His mark ranks first in the UAA and in the nation. He also finished third in the discus with a mark of 42.26m, ranking him 22nd in the nation and first in the UAA.

Nellis had an impressive week for the Eagles playing in six games helping Emory go 4-2. She went 10-for-17 for a .588 batting average and scored nine runs while posting six RBI. Nellis notched three extra base hits, including two triples, and was hit by five pitches including three against Spalding.

Taylor opened her final outdoor season with a bang helping the women's track program to a third place finish at the Emory Spring Break Classic. She finished first in the 800m with a time of 2:13.72 which ranks second in the nation and first in the UAA.
