Emory Athletics Announces 2023-24 Award Winners

Emory University announced the 2023-24 athletics award winners at the annual student-athlete banquet Monday night at the Woodruff PE Center.

 

Thomas Aliberti Award

The Thomas Aliberti Award is presented to a member of a men's team and a member of a women's team who consistently made a positive impact on their program, elevating its level to new heights.

Men's Nominees: Joe Beare (Soccer), Nick Goudie (Swimming & Diving)

Winner: Nick Goudie

Women's Nominees: Amanda Meyer (Volleyball), Libby Ranocha (Track & Field), Megan Jungers (Swimming & Diving), Eliza McPherron (Tennis)

Winner: Eliza McPherron

 

H.Y. McCord III Award

The McCord Award honors the most outstanding season performance by a student-athlete on both a women's and men's team.

Women's Nominees: Claire Brock (Basketball), Nikki Boon (Track & Field), Tess Klugherz (Swimming & Diving), Kaitlyn Nimmer (Soccer), Emily Kantrovitz (Tennis), Deborah Hong (Volleyball)

Winner: Deborah Hong

Men's Nominees: Colton Myers (Soccer), Jackson Klutznick (Golf), Crow Thorsen (Swimming & Diving), Jack Halloran (Baseball)

Winner: Jackson Klutznick

 

Thomas McDonough Award

The Thomas McDonough Award celebrates the top five plays and athletics moments of this past year.

The No. 5 moment is Grace Reyer's game-tying penalty kick in the final minutes of regulation to send women's soccer into overtime against Hardin-Simmons in the second round of the NCAA tournament.

The No. 4 moment is Women's Cross Country's stunning performance at the NCAA Championships. The Eagles tied for the second-best finish in team history, placing eighth overall, behind a pair of All-America performances!

The No. 3 moment of the year is Jackson Klutznick's excellent final round at the Gate City Invitational. Jackson shot a record-setting 61 across the final 18 holes, the second-best score in NCAA golf history, including a hole-in-one on hole 10!

The No. 2 moment of the year is men's swimming and diving winning its third consecutive NCAA National Championship, also marking the 13th consecutive year at least one of our teams (men and/or women) have won an NCAA National Championship title!

And the top athletic moment of the year is Men's soccer winning the 2023 UAA Championship, capping off the biggest single-season turnaround in program history. The UAA title is the first for the program since 2012 and the first outright conference crown since 1998.

 

Clyde Partin Award

The Clyde Partin Award is presented to the individual who embodies the spirit of an Emory Eagle and shows profound loyalty to Emory University Athletics through their engagement and visibility.

Nominees: Geoff Point-Du-Jour (Men's Track & Field), Peter Wagner (Men's Soccer), Will Kerscher (Men's Swimming & Diving), Carly Wallace (Volleyball), Ana Cristina Perez (Women's Tennis)

Winner: Geoff Point-Du-Jour

 

Scholar-Athlete Award

The Scholar Athlete award goes to the Emory Eagle that best exemplifies the ideals of a student-athlete through both their academic and athletic success.

Winner: Claire Brock (Women's Basketball)

 

Ralph and Russell Bridges Award

The Ralph and Russell Bridges Award recognizes the most outstanding all-around career of a student-athlete on both a women's and men's team.

Women's Nominees: Claire Brock (Basketball), Grace Reyer (Soccer), Ana Cristina Perez (Tennis), Megan Jungers (Swimming & Diving)

Winner: Claire Brock

Men's Nominees: Jackson Klutznick (Golf), Kenya Sei (Track & Field), Nolan Shah (Tennis), Alejandro Gomez (Soccer), Jake Meyer (Swimming & Diving)

Winner: Jackson Klutznick
