Freshman (2010):
DeYoung played in 28 games, making 22 starts, during his first season with Emory. He finished the year with a .329 batting average, the sixth-highest mark on the team, among qualifying players. He split time between third base, shortstop and the outfield, scoring 21 runs and stealing eight bases on as many attempts, the second-most steals on the squad. DeYoung hit .341 (15-for-44) against right-handed pitchers, and .345 (10-for-29) with runners on base.

Prior to Emory:
Transferred from Ball State University, where he was a red shirt
on the baseball team... Competed on the Hanover Central High School
baseball team for four seasons, serving as the team captain during
his junior and senior years... Hit .456 with 35 stolen bases in
2008... Won the Porter County Conference Mental Attitude Award and
the Most Valuable Player award in 2008... Was named to
the all-Porter County Conference team in 2006, 2007 and
2008... Coached by Jim Nohos in high school... Also played
basketball.
