Junior (2010):

Monaco appeared in 14 games during the season, four of which were starts.  He struck out 22 batters in 30.1 innings pitched, allowing a .320 opponents batting average and walking just 16.  Monaco finished the season with a 7.12 earned run average and a 2-3 record.  In his 10 relief appearances, comprising 21.2 innings, Monaco was 1-2 with a 4.64 ERA, and held opposing hitters to a .221 batting average, while striking out 18.  Monaco started and pitched three shutout innings of two-hit baseball to help Emory to a 5-0 win against Atlanta Christian College on April 21st.  He also pitched four innings against Piedmont College on April 2nd, allowing three hits and one run.

Sophomore (2009):

Monaco finished his first season with the Eagles with a 3-3 record and a 5.77 earned run average.  In his 48.1 innings pitched, comprising seven starts and four relief appearances, Monaco struck out 23 batters and walked 22, while holding opponents to a .258 batting average.  The sophomore was effective against lefties during the season, holding them to a .227 (10-for-44) batting average, and held all opponents to a .204 (22-for-108) batting average with the bases empty.  In his second outing as an Eagle, Monaco pitched five shutout innings of relief against February 20th, allowing just two hits and striking out five batters.

Prior to Emory:

Transferred to Emory from St. Joseph's University (Pa.) prior to the start of his sophomore year, where he played on the baseball team for one season... Did not play for the Hawks in 2008... Played three seasons on the Bishop Eustace Preparatory School, serving as the team's co-captain during his senior year... Was named to the All-South Jersey, All-Parochial, and All-Conference teams... Struck out 60 batters with a 1.70 earned run average in 40 innings during his senior year... Helped lead his team to New Jersey State Championships in 2004 and 2006, and to South Jersey Championships from 2004-07... Also played basketball in high school.
