Emory Baseball Looks to Bounce Back during Weekend Series at Hendrix

The Emory University Baseball team will head to Conway, Arkansas for a three-game series with Hendrix College this weekend, as the squad will look to recover after dropping three of its last four contests.  The Eagles and the Warriors will play a doubleheader (one nine inning and one seven inning game) starting at 2:00 PM ET on Saturday, followed by a 1:00 PM ET nine inning game on Sunday to wrap-up the series.

Emory Eagles
Emory stands at 13-12 in 2013, following their loss to 20th-ranked Birmingham-Southern College on Wednesday.  Included in the team's record is a 5-3 mark in road contests.  The Eagles are batting .280 and averaging 5.6 runs per game during the season, while the pitching staff has a 3.71 ERA with a .283 opponents' batting average.

Emory head coach Mike Twardoski, currently has a record of 402-191-1 during his 14-year career at Emory.  Twardoski has led the squad to eight UAA Championships, seven NCAA Tournament Appearances and three Division III World Series trips, including a second-place finish in 2007.  He began the year as the 22nd-winningest active coach in Division III and the 27th-best Division III coach all-time with a .685 winning percentage.


Hendrix Warriors
Hendrix will enter the game with a 14-15 overall record this season, but have played better at home, where they stand at 9-5 in 2013.  The squad has also gained momentum of late, winning four-straight contests.  Hendrix has a team .282 batting average and is averaging 5.7 runs per game, while the pitching staff has a 4.36 ERA and a .286 opponents' batting average.  The Warriors' attack is led by junior Collin Radack, who is batting .440 this season with nine doubles, three triples, and a team-high 24 runs scored.

Hendrix is led by Neil Groat, who is in his first season as the team's head coach after spending the previous seven as an assistant on the squad.  He is assisted by Jay Mattox and Andrew Thames, in addition to pitching coach Marvin Prestridge.

Matchup History
The two teams met for the first time during the 2011 season, with the Eagles sweeping a three-game series at Chappell Park.  In the 2011 series, Brandon Hannon hit .333 (four-for-12) with five runs scored, while Daniel Iturrey drove in a team-best six runs.
