Baseball to Conclude Regular Season against Piedmont

Emory University Baseball will wrap-up its 2013 regular season this weekend, when it faces in-state rival Piedmont College during a three-game series.  The Eagles will play the Lions in Demorest, Georgia on Thursday, April 25th at 7:00 PM, before returning home to host games at 4:00 PM on Friday, April 26th and 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 27th.  Friday's game will also mark 'Senior Day,' as Emory will honor graduating senior Mark Lindemann prior to the start of the contest.

Emory Eagles
The Eagles are trying to complete a strong finish to their season, having won five of their last six games and eight of their last ten, and now stand at 21-15 overall this season.  Including in the team's overall record are marks of 7-6 at home and 10-5 in road games.  After their 8-4 win over LaGrange on Monday, Emory is batting .281 as a team and averaging 5.8 runs per game, in addition to recording a 3.47 team ERA and holding opponents to a .277 batting average.

Emory head coach Mike Twardoski, currently has a record of 410-194-1 during his 14-year career at Emory.  Twardoski has led the squad to eight UAA Championships, seven NCAA Tournament Appearances and three Division III World Series trips, including a second-place finish in 2007.  He began the year as the 22nd-winningest active coach in Division III and the 27th-best Division III coach all-time with a .685 winning percentage.

Piedmont Lions
The Lions put an end to a five-game losing streak earlier this week with a 7-3 win over Covenant College on Tuesday.  Piedmont is now 20-21 this year, including marks of 10-8 in home games and 8-11 in road contests.  The team has a .262 batting average and has scored 4.8 runs per game this year, while its pitching staff has a 3.47 ERA with a .265 opponents' batting average.

The Lions are coached by Jim Peeples, who has a record of 289-247 during his 12 years with the program.  He is assisted by Richard Dombrowsky, Justin Scali, and Justin Oates.

Matchup History
Emory is 29-18 all-time against Piedmont, including records of 18-5 in games at Chappell Park, 11-12 in road contests, and 0-1 in the only neutral game in the series.  The two teams have played each other at least three times a year each season since the 2001 campaign.

Last season, Emory and Piedmont split four games.  The Eagles won 17-9 at Chappell Park and 14-5 in Demorest, while Piedmont claimed a 2-0 victory at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, Georgia, and a 4-3 win in Demorest.  Daniel Iturrey hit .500 (eight-for-16) over the four games with two home runs, seven runs scored and seven RBIs, and Connor Dillman won his only start against the Lions last year.

Emory Notes
Prior to the start of Friday's game, Emory will honor its only graduating player, Mark Lindemann, with a 'Senior Day' ceremony… Lindemann played in 81 games over his career, making 50 starts at second base… He has 32 hits, 17 runs scored and 25 runs batted in over his career, in addition to a .344 on base percentage… With Lindemann on the team, the Eagles have gone 92-66, good for a .582 winning percentage, and won University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships in 2011 and 2012, and an NCAA Tournament berth last season… With Monday's win over LaGrange, Emory improved to 17-2 when the team scores at least six runs, and to 13-0 when it scores at least eight runs… Emory is 17-4 when it scores first, and 10-2 when it scores in the first inning… The Eagles are 15-1 when they out-hit their opponent… Emory is 19-4 when leading after six innings this season.
