The Emory University baseball team fell to No. 1 ranked Birmingham-Southern College on Saturday, 4-2, at Chappell Park in Atlanta.
The Eagles drop to 9-5 overall with the loss as they head into Tuesday's contest with Huntingdon College while the Panthers win their 15th straight game and improve to 17-1.
The top-ranked Panthers scraped out an unearned run in the third before adding another run in the fifth on a home run by Cam McNearney. The Eagles finally broke the scoreless drought in the sixth as Henry Pelinski delivered a pinch-hit single to score Matthew Sicoli.
BSC added a run in the eighth before Emory responded in the home half to keep it a one-run game. However, that was as close as the Eagles would make it as the Panthers tacked on another run in the ninth for the 4-2 final.
Sophomore Ryan Reynolds moved to 2-1 despite pitching well, working into the sixth frame. Reynolds allowed one earned run on eight hits and a walk, striking out three.
The Eagles will be back at Chappell Park on Tuesday with a 3:00 PM first pitch against the Hawks.
