Emory Baseball Lands Five on All-UAA Teams; Rattigan Collects Pitcher & Rookie of the Year Honors

The Emory University baseball team saw five of its members capture University Athletic Association honors Thursday as the conference announced its All-Association teams.

Freshman JT Rattigan headlined the group of five Eagles honored by the UAA as the rookie standout secured both Pitcher and Rookie of the Year awards and was tabbed to the All-UAA Second Team. In addition to Rattigan, four offensive performers were named to First Team: senior Jacob Grossman and juniors Blake Dincman, Jack Halloran and Matthew Sicoli.

Rattigan shined his debut season with the Eagles, posting a 7-1 record in 10 appearances and was 3-1 in his four starts in conference play. In 40.1 innings, he turned in a 3.79 ERA and struck out 27 batters. His seven wins topped all UAA hurlers and is four behind the nation's lead. He won his final three UAA starts against NYU, WashU and Brandeis and twirled a complete game shutout against the Judges, striking out four and allowing just five singles.

Grossman collects his second straight All-UAA honor after earning a spot on the Second Team as a junior. This season, he was one of six starters to hit .318 over better while playing in 38 games and made 37 starts. Grossman paced all UAA hitters with 21 doubles while finishing sixth nationally and tied for third on the team with 47 hits. Of his hits, 26 went for extra bases including four home runs and he drove in 32 runs. He was second on the squad with 49 runs scored and was 19-for-20 on the basepaths to lead the team.

Dincman makes his first-ever appearance on the All-UAA team in his second season with the Eagles. As a junior, Dincman batted over .400 with his team-leading .412 mark while playing in 35 games. He matched Grossman with 47 hits, collecting 14 doubles and smacked four runs to go along with 31 RBI. Dincman's .640 slugging percentage was the best on the team and finished second in on-base percentage at .489.

For the second straight season, Halloran made his presence felt in the middle of the Emory lineup n route to his second consecutive First Team selection. This season, Halloran started 38 games as he recorded a .395 batting average and was second on the team with six home runs as he moved into second place all-time in Emory history. Halloran was one of two Eagles to drive in 40 runs or more, tallying 44 RBI, and topped all UAA players with his .544 on-base percentage which placed him 14th in Division III.

Sicoli rounds out the Emory selections as he earned his first All-UAA honor. As a junior, Sicoli was the lone Eagle to start each of the team's 39 games and finished second on the team with a .384 batting average. He led all Eagles with 63 hits, with 23 going for extra bases as he also collected 15 doubles, one triple and a team-best seven home runs. His 48 RBI were the most in the Emory lineup, six shy of the UAA lead, and was one of four Eagle to steal 10 or more bases as he went 13-for-16 in steal attempts. His .616 slugging percentage and .448 on-base percentage led to a team-high 50 runs scored which placed him among the UAA leaders.

The Eagles concluded the 2024 campaign with a 23-15-1 record and were 9-6-1 in UAA games.
