2008-09 Athletes Of The Week

(May 17) -- Senior Jeremy Evans closed out his college career by pacing the Eagles at the NCAA Division III championships in Port St. Lucie, Fla.  Evans finished the 72-hole event with a score of 304 (73-78-77-76) which ranked him 44th out of the 120 players who made the cut. 

It marked the fourth time during the season that the four-year veteran ranked as the team's top shooter.  He finished the 2008-09 campaign second on the team with a 77.3 strokes per round average.


(Apr. 28) - Freshman Ryan Dagerman was Emory's top performer at the UAA Championships, played Apr. 26-27, at the Royal Lakes Golf and Country Club.

Dagerman was one of two Emory players to earn first team All-UAA honors with his 36-hole score of 153 (77-76) placing him third in the 25-player field.

So far this year, Ryan has played a total of 13 rounds and is second on the team with a 76.5 strokes per-round average.


(Apr. 15) - Sophomore Daniel Kmetz was Emory's top overall performer at the Emory Spring Invitational, played Apr. 14 at the Stone Mountain Golf Course.

Playing for the Blue Team, Kmetz posted a 150 (76-74) with his second-round effort representing his second-lowest round of the campaign. Kmetz finished the competition tied for 14th place in the 79-player field.


(Mar. 23) - Senior Jeremy Evans was Emory's top performer at the Jekyll Island Invitational this past weekend.

Evans helped the Eagles' to a ninth-place tie out of 27 squads by totaling a 54-hole score of 11-over par 227 (75-78-74) over the 6,521-yard, par-72 Oleander Course. His score was good for a 28th-place tie in the 150-player field.


(Mar. 2) - Senior Jeremy Evans was Emory's top finisher at the Pine Needles Invitational, Feb. 23-24, the Eagles' spring season opener.

Evans finished the 36-hole event with a nine-over score of 151 (75-76), good for a 14th-place tie out of 58 competitors. The Invitational was plaOyed at the 7,015-yard, par-71 Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club, in Southern Pines, North Carolina.


(Oct. 23) - Emory senior Jeremy Evans tied for ninth place out of 65 players at the Oglethorpe Fall Invitational, shooting a 36-hole score of five-over 145 (76-69).

Evans' second-round score was his best effort of the fall campaign and represented the team's second low-round score for the fall. Emory concluded the Olgethorpe Fall Invitational in fifth place out of 12 teams.


(Oct. 14) -Sophomore Charles-Henri Raindre (Paris, France) highlighted the Emory effort at the Gordin Collegiate Classic, firing a second-round, five-under par 66 to finish in a first-place tie with Josh Schrader of Methodist at 137.  Raindre's performance helped Emory to a fifth-place finish out of 12 teams.

Schrader eventually claimed medalist honors after coming through with a birdie on the fourth playoff hole.

Raindre's score at the Gordin Collegiate established a school record for 36 holes, bettering the previous standard of 138 held by Rod Olivero at the 2006 Gordin Collegiate which was held in Myrtle Beach, SC.

The Eagles return to action, Oct. 20-21, when they compete at the Oglethorpe Fall Invitational in Flowery Branch, GA.


(Oct. 6) - Freshman Ryan Dagerman was Emory's top performer at the Macdonald Cup (Oct. 4-5), played at the 6,750-yard, par-70 Yale University Golf Course. 

Dagerman tied for 16th place among the 79 finishers, recording a 54-hole, 11-over par score of 221.  Dagerman posted scores of 75-71-75 as the Eagles closed out the tournament in 11th position out of 15 teams. 

The Eagles return to action, Oct. 12-13, when they compete at the Gordin Collegiate in Fredricksburg, VA.


(Sept. 25) - Senior Patrick Cohn was Emory's top performer at the Rhodes College Invitational, the team's 2008 fall opener.

Cohn tied for 25th overall out of 107 players, firing a six-over par 150. After posting an opening round 78, Cohn bounced back with an even-par 72 during the second day of action.

Emory shot a team score of 603 and finished seventh out of 21 teams.

The Eagles return to action, Oct. 4-6, when they compete at the Macdonald Cup in New Haven, CT.
