Results
The No. 8-ranked Emory University golf team battled the rain and
cold weather Tuesday morning en route to a seventh-place finish out
of 15 teams at the Callaway Collegiate Invitational. The
tournament was held at the 7,057-yard, par 72 Mountain View Golf
Course in Pine Mountain, Georgia.
After playing part of the second round on Monday, the Eagles played
the final six of the 36-hole event on Tuesday and posted a score of
318 to finish at 627. Taking home first place was Darton
Community College with an effort of 594. The University of
West Georgia was runner-up at 596 while Methodist University, the
No. 1-ranked team in the Division III ranks, held down third at
599.
Sophomore Ryan Dagerman finished as Emory's top performer, totaling
a seven-over par 151 (75-76), good for a 12th-place tie
in the 85-player field. Senior Shane Miller came through with a 157
(76-81) that tied him for the 31st position.
Freshman Thomas Mally was next up for the Eagles at 160 (78-82)
while freshman Tae Cho rounded out the team's scorers with a 161
(82-79). Junior Daniel Kmetz recorded a 167 and freshman
David Collura, playing as an individual, also shot a 167.
Taking home medalist honors was Taylor Welborn of Darton Community
College with a one-over par 145.
Emory returns to action next Monday and Tuesday (Mar. 8-9) when it
competes at the Lonnie Barton Memorial Invitational in
Savannah.
