The No. 11-ranked Emory University golf team competed in the first round of the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational on Friday and stands tied for 16th place out of 27 teams. The 54-hole event is being played at the 6,620-yard, par-72 Pine Lakes Course on Jekyll Island.
Emory is tied with Randolph Macon as both teams finished the
opening holes with a score of 309. Holding down the top spot
is Huntingdon College with a mark of 287. Methodist (291) and
Transylvania (295) are second and third, respectively.
The Eagles’ top shooter was freshman Thomas Mally whose
even-round effort of 72 ties him for ninth place in the 134-player
field. Ryan Dagerman (77), Tae Cho (78), Shane Miller (82)
and Michael Mullavey (85) rounded out the team’s scorers.
