Round 1 Results
The Emory University golf team completed the first day of action at
the NCAA Division III Championships on Tuesday and stands in a
26th-place tie out of 37 teams. This year’s
72-hole event is being played at the Hershey Country Club in
Herhsey, Penn.
The Eagles playing on the 6,984-yard, par-17 Country Club East
Course, shot an opening-round score of 327 and are tied with
Bridgewater College. Emory and Bridgewater are five strokes
behind Thomas More, Illinois Wesleyan and Penn State-Behrend
College, all of whom are tied for 23th place.
Holding down first place after the first 18 holes of action is
Skidmore College, who compiled a mark of 295 while playing at the
Hershey Links Course. Franklin & Marshall holds down the
No. 2 spot at 298 while Otterbein College is third with an effort
of 300. Rounding out the top five squads are Greensboro (301)
and Guilford (303). The top five teams from Tuesday all
competed on the 6,837-yard, par-72 Links Course.
Emory’s top performer was sophomore Ryan Dagerman whose
six-over par 77, placed him in a 50th-place tie in
the 190-player field. Senior Shane Miller was next on the
Eagles’ leader board with a 79. Also competing for
Emory is freshman David Collura (84) along with sophomore Tae Cho
(87) and freshman Thomas Mally (87).
Tain Lee of Claremont Mudd Scripps registered the best score of the
day with a two-under 69 on the East Course. Franklin &
Marshall’s Jeremy Rubin was the only other player in the
field to break par with a one-under 70 on the Links Course.
Emory returns to action on Wednesday when it will play the Links
Course. After the second round of play, the field will be
pared to 23 teams.
