The No. 16-ranked Emory University men's golf team continues its
fall schedule on Monday and Tuesday (Oct 19-20) when it
competes at the Oglethorpe / Royal Lakes Fall Classic. The 36-hole
event will be played at the 6,835-yard, par-71 Royal Lakes Golf
Course in nearby Flowery Branch.
This year's 16-team field includes a number of elite Division III
squads including the top four, six of the top 10 and 10 of the top
25-ranked teams. Methodist heads into the Classic as the No.
1-ranked team followed by Huntingdon College, No. 3 Oglethorpe and
No. 4 Guilford. Other top-10 squads hitting the links will
include No. 8 Greensboro and No. 9 Rhodes.
Oglethorpe captured the top spot out of 12 teams last year,
recording a one-stroke victory over Guilford while Huntingdon
finished three strokes behind. Emory turned in a fifth-place
performance.
In their most recent performance, the Eagles finished seventh at
the Gordin-Myers Collegiate Classic (Oct. 5-6) held at the Duke
University Golf Course. Sophomore Ryan Dagerman led Emory
with a 54-hole score of 12-over par 228, tying him for
17th place in the 66-player field.
Tee times for the Oglethorpe/Royal Lakes Fall Invitational
begin at holes No. 1 & 10 at 8:05 a.m., both Monday and
