The Emory University golf team turned in an impressive
first day at the Oglethorpe/Royal Lakes Invitational and stands
second out of 16 teams. The 36-hole event is being played at the
6,835-yard, par-71 Royal Lakes Golf Course in nearby Flowery
Branch.
The Eagles posted an opening-round score of 286, just two strokes
behind Guilford College's 286. Methodist holds down the third
spot at 290 while Huntingdon finished with a 291.
Shane Miller led Emory's effort on Monday, firing a brilliant
four-under 67 that ties him for second place in the 90-player
field. Sophomore Ryan Dagerman checked in at 72 while senior
John Ross recorded a 73. Rounding out the team's scorers was
sophomore Mike Mullavey with a 74.
The final round will be played on Tuesday.
