Results
The Emory University golf team concluded a solid performance at the
Oglethorpe/Royal Lakes Invitational, finishing third out of 16
teams. The 36-hole event was played at the 6,835-yard, par-71 Royal
Lakes Golf Course in nearby Flowery Branch.
The Eagles recorded a final-round score of 296 to finish at
582. Taking home first place was Methodist whose
field-leading 283 on Monday gave it a 573. First-round leader
Guilford came totaled a 296 over the final 18 holes of play and
finished runner-up with a score of 580. Huntingdon College
(585) and Greensboro (593) claimed the fourth and fifth spots,
respectively.
Emory senior Shane Miller followed his opening day 67 with a
second-round 76 to finish at one-over par 143, good for a
sixth-place tie in the 90-player field. Miller's performance
enabled him to earn all-tournament honors. Senior John Ross
was next on the Emory leader board with a 147 (73-74) while
sophomore Ryan Dagerman manufactured a 148 (76-72). Rounding
out the team's scoring was Charles Raindre who came through with
the squad's best score of the day, a one-under 70, that gave him a
final score of 150.
Emory returns to action, Oct. 26-27 when it plays at the O'Briant
Invitational in Greensboro, NC.
