Emory University seniors Shane Miller (Harrison
City, PA) and John Ross (N.
Barrington, IL) have earned spots on the 2009-10 Division III
Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar Team. The
announcement was made by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
It marks the second straight year that Ross landed a berth on the
All-Scholars Team.
A business major, Miller finished with an overall grade-point
average of 3.54 while averaging 78.2 strokes per-round
average. Miller played a team-high 26 rounds in 2009-10 and
was the Eagles’ top performer at the Greensboro Invitational
(7th out of 71 players) and the Oglethorpe/Royal Lakes
Invitational (6th out of 87 players) during the fall
portion of the schedule. Miller’s one-over par 143 at
the Oglethorpe/Royal Lakes Invitational represented the low 36-hole
score by an Emory player this year, and his opening-round
performance of 67 ranked as the team’s best outing as
well. At the NCAA Division III Championships, Miller captured
Third Team All-America honors after finishing in 17th
place.
Ross, a business major, closed out his Emory career with of a
3.76 GPA. He played in all 11 of the team’s rounds
during the fall and averaged 76.8 strokes per outing. Ross
graduated in December of 2009.
