The Emory University golf team stands 11th out of 17 teams after
the opening day of action at the Emory Spring Invitational. The
36-hole event is being held at the 6,808-yard, par-70 Stonemont
Course at Stone Mountain.
Playing on a warm and sunny day, the Eagles turned in a
score of 324. Greensboro College leads the pack after the first
round with a mark of 303 and is followed by Methodist
University’s 307. Guilford College (308) holds down
third place while Oglethorpe University and Centre College are
deadlocked for fourth position at 311.
Sophomore Ryan Dagerman led the Emory effort with his five-over par
75 placing him eighth in the 97-player field. Sophomore Tae
Cho posted an 81 that ties him for 39th place. Senior Shane
Miller and sophomore Michael Mullavey each checked in with 84s
while freshman Thomas Mally ended up with an 89. Freshman
David Collura, playing as an individual, came through with a 79,
tying for 28th place. Other individuals competing included Nick
Szem (84) and Daniel Kmetz (85).
Chris Morris of Centre College and Peter Latimer of Guilford each
shot fine scores of 71 and pace the leader board. Three
players, Ben Hihart and Josh Nichols of Greensboro, and Trey Howell
of Methodist are deadlocked for third place at 73.
Play concludes on Tuesday with a shotgun start slated for 8:30
a.m.
