The No. 8-ranked Emory University golf team opens the spring
portion of its schedule on Monday and Tuesday (Mar. 1-2) when
it competes at the Callaway Gardens Collegiate Tournament.
The 36-hole event will be played at the 7,057-yard, par 72 Mountain
View Golf Course in Pine Mountain, Georgia.
This year's field shapes up as a competitive one with five of the
nation's top 10-ranked Division III teams hitting the course.
Other ranked squads taking part include No. 1-ranked Methodist, No.
2-ranked Huntingdon, No. 5-ranked Oglethorpe and No. 10
Rhodes. All totaled, 16 teams will be represented.
Last year's Callaway Gardens Collegiate Tournament was cancelled
due to inclement weather.
During the fall portion of the schedule, sophomore Ryan Dagerman
logged nine rounds of action and paced the team with a 74.7 strokes
per-round average. Senior John Ross (76.8) and Shane
Miller (77.3) played all 11 rounds and will be aiming to anchor the
team in the spring.
The Eagles closed out the fall in strong fashion, registering a
third-place finish out of 16 teams at the Royal Lakes Invitational
before coming in runner-up out of 17 entries at the O'Briant
Memorial.
