Emory Golf Team Opens Spring Season

Emory Golf Team Opens Spring Season

The No. 20-ranked Emory University golf team opens the spring portion of its schedule on Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 21-22) when it competes at the Wynlakes Wynter Nationals. The 36-hole event will be played at the 6,979-yard, par 72 Wynlakes Country Club in Montgomery, Alabama, and hosted by Huntingdon College.

This year's field shapes up as a competitive one with three of the nation's top 10-ranked Division III teams hitting the course.  Other ranked squads taking part include No. 2-ranked and host Huntingdon, No. 4 Methodist and No. 7 Oglethorpe.  All totaled, 10 teams will be represented.

During the fall portion of the schedule, junior Ryan Dagerman logged nine rounds of action over four competitions and paced the team with a 73.8 strokes per-round average.   Dagerman turned in a pair of top-10 performances, a sixth-place tie out of 89 players at the Greensboro Gordin D-III Preview and a tie for seventh place at the Chik-fil-A Invitational in Rome, Ga.

Freshman Johnathan Chen, who averaged 74.7 strokes over seven rounds of play, will be looking to provide consistency as will senior Charles Raindre (76.8 strokes over five rounds) and junior Tae Cho (76.3 strokes, over four rounds).

Comprising Emory’s five-man team at the Wynlakes Wynter Nationals will be Dagerman, Raindre, Cho, and junior Mike Mullavey.  Sophomore David Collura will compete as an individual.
