The No. 18-ranked Emory University golf team finished the first round of the Wynlakes Wynternationals Tournament in sixth place out of eight teams. The 36-hole event is being played at the 6,900-yard, par 72 Wynlakes Country Club in Montgomery, Alabama. Serving as the host institution is Huntingdon College.
The Eagles posted a first-day score of 322, one stroke behind fifth-place Birmingham Southern. No. 3-ranked Methodist stands first with a mark of 297 while No. 7-ranked Oglethorpe is second with a 304. Huntingdon (310) and Greensboro College (315) round out the top four teams.
Senior Ryan Dagerman and sophomore Johnathan Chen each carded a 78 to lead the team's effort. Junior Thomas Mally shot an 82 while senior Nick Szem and junior David Collura each totaled an 84. Freshman Alex Wunderlich, playing as an individual, shot a 77.
Action at the Wynlakes Wynternationals concludes on Tuesday.
