Marine Federal Credit Union Intercollegiate Championship
The No. 19-ranked Emory University golf team returns to action this Friday through Sunday (Mar. 30 – Apr. 1) when it takes part in the 41st annual Marine Federal Credit Union Intercollegiate Championship. The 54-hole tournament will be played at the Paradise Point Golf Course at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
The 32-team field is stacked with talent and comprises, Division II, Division III, NAIA and junior college programs. Four of the top 10 and six of the nation's top 25 Division III teams will be among those vying for the team title that will be played on both the Gold and Scarlet Courses. Among the D-III powers that will be competing include No. 1 Guilford, No. 3 Methodist, No. 6 Oglethorpe, No. 10 Christopher Newport and No. 14 Greensboro.
Cape Fear Community College enters this year's competition as the defending champion while Webber University came in runner-up in 2011.
The Eagles of head coach John Sjoberg are looking to continue the momentum from their past two tournaments that include a first-place performance at the UAA Championships and a third-place effort out of 30 teams at the Jekyll Island Invitational.
