The No. 19-ranked Emory University golf team closed out the first day of action at the Marine Federal Credit Union Intercollegiate Championship on Friday. The 54-hole tournament is being played at the Paradise Point Golf Course at Camp Lejeune, NC.
Playing on the 7,040-yard, par-72 Gold Course, the Eagles posted a team score of 305, placing it ninth out of 12 teams that were competing on that course. Approximately 20 other squads played the Scarlet Course.
Senior Ryan Dagerman led the Emory effort with an even-par 72 while junior David Collura finished the opening round with a 75. Sophomore Johnathan Chen carded a 77, and rounding out the Eagles contingent were senior Nick Szem and freshman Alex Wunderlich, both of whom finished with an 81.
Emory returns to action on Saturday when it will play on the 6,102-yard, par-70 Scarlet Course.
