The No. 19-ranked Emory University golf team returns to action on Monday and Tuesday (Apr. 9-10) when it hosts its Spring Invitational. The 36-hole tournament will be held at the 6,860-yard, par-72 Druid Hills Golf Club.
16 teams will be vying for the team title including five of the top 10 and 12 of the nation's top 25 programs competing. No. 1-ranked Guilford and No. 3-ranked Methodist are among the top 10 squads in the hunt as are No. 6 Oglethorpe, No. 8 Transylvania and No. 10 Christopher Newport.
The Eagles of head coach John Sjoberg enter the Spring Invitational as the defending champ after posting a three-stroke win over Oglethorpe a year ago at the Stonemount Course in Stone Mountain. Emory's Johnathan Chen captured medalist honors at last year's event by a three-stroke margin over Oglethorpe's Eric Quinn.
In its most recent action, Emory posted a 16th-place finish at the Marine Federal Credit Union Championship. Senior Ryan Dagerman led the team's effort with a 54-hole score of two-under par 212 that placed him 12th in the 80-player field.
