Emory Golfers Dagerman & Collura Earn Academic Honors

Emory University's Ryan Dagerman (Dallas, TX) and junior David Collura (Atlanta, GA), key members of the 2011-12 golf team, have been recognized for their performance in the classroom with the pair receiving academic honors from a pair of different organizations. 

Dagerman, who just wrapped up his senior season with the Eagles with a First Team All-America performance at the NCAA D-III Championships, earned a spot on the Capital One Academic All-District At-Large Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).   Dagerman was the team's top performer in seven of the team's 10 competitions and closed out the year with a school seasonal scoring record of 73.0 strokes per-round.  A finance and accounting major, Dagerman posts a GPA of 3.78.   In addition, he closed out his four-year stint with the program in the No. 1 spot in career scoring average with a 74.38 strokes-per-round showing, just a shade ahead of the previous standard of 74.43.

Golf is one of 13 sports included in the At-Large category.  The others include the sports of bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, tennis, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, water polo, and wrestling. Emory's representatives are District 5 selections from Division III institutions comprised from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.  A candidate must be a starter or key member of the team and possess a GPA of 3.30 or higher.

Both Dagerman and Collura were afforded spots on the Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar Team.  Collura, a Business major and owner of a 3.42 GPA, competed in eight tournaments during the 2011-12 season and averaged 76.7 strokes per round.   He shot par or better on three occasions including a career-best 68 at the Marine Federal Credit Union Championship.  To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically and participate in 70 percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke average under 79.0 and maintain of minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2.
