Emory Golf standout Ryan Dagerman Named To Capital One Academic All-America Second Team

Emory University golf standout Ryan Dagerman has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America At-Large Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).  Dagerman captured a second-team berth in recognition for his achievements both on the course and in the classroom during the 201-12 season.

Dagerman helped the Eagles to the program's 10th consecutive appearance to the NCAA D-III Championships as well as their second straight University Athletic Association Championship.  Dagerman captured First Team All-America honors after tying for seventh place at the national tournament, with his 72-hole score of 294 tying the school's second-best individual mark at the NCAA Championships. Dagerman's performance at the national tourney represented his third consecutive All-America effort, making him just one of two players in school history to earn that distinction.

Dagerman was the team's top finisher in seven of the team's 10 competitions and closed out the year with a school seasonal scoring record of 73.0 strokes per-round. In addition, he closed out his four-year stint with the program in the No. 1 spot in career scoring average with a 74.38 strokes-per-round showing.

Academically, Dagerman posted a 3.76 grade point average as a Finance and Accounting major.  A three-time UAA academic honoree, earlier in the spring he was named to the Capital One Academic All-District First Team.

All totaled, Emory now has 133 athletes who have been named Academic All-Americans.  Dagerman is the first member of the golf program to capture Academic All-America status since Allan Phillips landed a second-team berth in 1999-2000.

Sports represented on the 'At-Large' team include women's bowling, women's crew, men's and women's fencing, women's field hockey, men's and women's golf, men's and women's gymnastics, men's and women's ice hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's rifle, men's and women's skiing, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's tennis, men's volleyball, men's and women's water polo and men's wrestling.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution, and be selected to an Academic All-District team.
