Round One Results
The No. 8-ranked Emory University golf team stands tied for seventh
place out of 17 teams after the first round of the Oglethorpe Fall
Invitational. The 36-hole event is being played at the
6,848-yard, par-71 Royal Lakes Golf Course in nearby Flowery
Branch.
The Eagles shot an opening-day score of 302, tying them with No. 2
Methodist and Southwestern University (TX). Holding down the top
spot after round one is No. 20 Christopher Newport who checked in
with a 292. No. 1-ranked Greensboro and LaGrange College are both
in hot pursuit at 297 while No. 24 Cal Lutheran is fourth at
298. Birmingham Southern rounds out the top five at 299.
Sophomore Jonathan Chen (Sugar Land, TX) posted
Emory’s top score on Monday, carding a one-over par 72 that
ties him for sixth place in the 98-player field. Senior
Ryan Dagerman (Dallas, TX) closed out his day with
a two-over par 73 that ties him for eighth. Rounding out the
squad’s scorers were senior Michael Mullavey
(Dunstable, MA) with a 76 and senior Nick Szem
(Wall, NJ) with an 81. Also competing was sophomore
Alec Berens (Tucson, AZ) who recorded an 83.
Emory had three players competing as individuals with sophomore
Will Roth (Niwot, CO) registering an even-par 71
that ties him with Jordan Hall of Oglethorpe for fourth
place. Freshman Alex Wunderlich (Ann Arbor,
MI) posted an 81 while classmate Aaron Weiner
(Newark, DE) finished at 84.
The final round of the Oglethorpe Fall Invitational will be held on
Tuesday.
