The No. 13-ranked Emory University golf team winds up the fall portion of its schedule this Sunday through Tuesday (Oct. 14-16) when it takes part in the Golfweek Division III Invitational. The 54-hole tourney will be contested at the 6,900-yard, par-71 Raven Golf Club at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Destin, Florida.
This year's field shapes up as a 'Who's Who' in Division III golf with 16 of the 18 teams holding positions among the top 25 in the Golf World/NIKE Coaches' Poll including eight of the top 10. Among those looking to bring home the team title include No. 1 Oglethorpe University, No. 2 Methodist University, No. 4 Transylvania, No. 6 UT-Tyler and No. 7 and defending champion Guilford College.
The Eagles are coming off a strong performance at the Royal Lakes/Oglethorpe Invitational (Oct. 8-9), registering a fourth-place finish out of 15 teams. Emory recorded a 36-hole score of 600 and was paced by the junior tandem of Johnathan Chen (Sugar Land, TX) and Will Roth (Niwot, CO), with each player carding five-over par scores of 147, good for a ninth-place tie in the 87-player field.
