First Round Results
The No. 13-ranked Emory golf team closed out the first day of action at the Golfweek
D-III Fall Preview on Sunday and stands in 12th place out of 18 teams. The 54-hole tourney is being played at the 6,793-yard, par-71 Raven Golf Course in Sandestin, Florida.
Emory posted an opening-round score of 304, just five shots out of eighth place. Holding down the top spot after 18 holes is No. 2-ranked Methodist at 289, one shot ahead of LaGrange and three strokes ahead of UT-Tyler and St. John's (MN). No. 1-ranked Oglethorpe, Skidmore College and No. 10 Illinois Wesleyan are tied for fifth at 293.
Junior Johnathan Chen (Sugar Land, TX) carded Emory's best round of the day with a two-over par 73, good for a 17th-place tie in the 90-player field. Sophomore Alex Wunderlich (Ann Arbor, MI) and senior David Collura (Atlanta) each finished at 76, 41st on the overall scoreboard. Sophomore Will Roth (Niwot, CO) rounded out the team's scorers with a 79. Also competing is junior Alec Berens (Tucson, AZ) who recorded an 87.
Second-round action takes place on Monday morning.
