Emory Men's Golf Uses Strong Second Round To Post A Fourth-Place Finish At Callaway Gardens Intercollegiate

The No. 13-ranked Emory golf team turned in a solid second-round effort on Sunday to post a fourth-place finish at the Callaway Gardens Intercollegiate.  The 36-hole tourney was played at the 7,032-yard, par-72 Callaway Gardens Golf Club in Pine Mountain, Ga. 

Starting the day in 12th place, the Eagles of head coach John Sjoberg posted a Sunday score of 307 that ranked as the third-best showing out of the 19 teams that were competing.  Emory finished with a team mark of 625 (318-307).  Taking home the top spot was No. 1-ranked Oglethorpe with a 591 (292-299), while No. 2 Methodist was runner-up with a performance of 611 (313-298).  LaGrange College took home third (309-317—625) with Rhodes College rounding out the top five at 626 (309-317).

Sophomore Alex Wunderlich (Ann Arbor, MI) led the Emory contingent with his performance of five-over par 149 (73-76) placing him fourth in the 103-player field.  Jonathan Gerrard came through with a fine effort, bouncing back from a first-round 83 to card a 75 on Sunday with his score of 158 tying for 32nd place.  Senior David Collura was third on the team's scoresheet and 39th overall with a 160 (82-78) while junior Will Roth (83-78—161) and junior Jonathan Chen (80-82—162) rounded out the team's competitors.

Emory returns to action, Mar. 10-11, when it attempts to bring home its third straight University Athletic Association Championship at the Redtail Golf Club in Sorrento, Fla.
