Emory Golf Gears Up For UAA Championships

Emory Golf Gears Up For UAA Championships

The No. 13-ranked Emory University golf team returns to action on Sunday and Monday (Mar. 10-11) when it competes at the University Athletic Association Championships.  This year's 36-hole event will be held at the 6,768-yard, par 72 RedTail Golf Club in Sorrento, Florida.

Joining Emory in the Championship will be Carnegie Mellon, New York University and the University of Rochester.  Emory won last year's crown for the second straight season with a conference-record score of 581, bettering runner-up Rochester by five strokes.  It was the Eagles' 14th conference title.   Junior Jonathan Chen and sophomore Alex Wunderlich finished third and fifth overall, respectively, with the pair claiming First Team All-UAA honors.

Competing for Emory in its defense title will be Chen, Wunderlich, senior David Collura, and juniors Will Roth and Alec Berens.  Freshman Jonathan Gerrard will compete as an individual.

In Emory's last outing, it posted a fourth-place finish out of 19 teams at the Callaway Gardens  Intercollegiate (Mar. 2-3) in Pine Mountain, Georgia.
