Senior Johnathan Chen captured medalist honors, winning a
playoff, at the Emory Spring Invitational.
With the tourney reduced to 18 holes after the opening day of play
was washed out, Chen fired a three-under par 69 on the 6,860-yard
Druid Hills Golf Club. Chen's effort tied him with Jeff Wells of
Methodist University for the top spot in the 82-player field.
Both competitors shot par on the first playoff hole before
Chen rolled in a 40-foot birdie putt on the ensuing hole. It marked
the second time in his career that he posted a first-place finish
at the Invitational.
Emory finished seventh out of 14 teams.
