First Round Results
The No. 7 Emory University golf team made its 2013-14 debut Sunday, competing in the opening round of the Tournament Town Championship Preview. The 36-hole event is being held at the 7,125-yard, par-72 East Course of the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, NC.
The Eagles reside in 16th place after 18 holes of play with a team score of 311, just eight shots shy of the No. 6 spot. Holding down the No. 1 position after the first day of action is Greensboro at 295. No. 1-ranked Transylvania is second with a 297 while No. 6 Illinois Wesleyan checked in with a mark of 298. Rounding out the top five are St. John's (MN) and No. 2 Oglethorpe with scores of 301 and 302, respectively.
Junior Alex Wunderlich finished as the team's top performer for the day, carding a three-over par 75 that ties for 19th place in the 90-player field. Senior Alec Berens was next up on the team's leader board with his 77, tying for the 41st place. Rounding out the team's scorers were senior Will Roth (79), senior Johnathan Chen (80) and freshman Colby Hipp (82).
The final round will be played on Monday.
