The Emory golf team completed the opening round of the Golfweek D-III Fall Preview on Sunday.  The event is being held at at the 6,505-yard, par-71 Raven Golf Club in Sandestin, Florida.

The Eagles find themselves tied with Averett University for 13th place in the 18-team field with score of 299.  Holding down the top spot is Oglethorpe at 284 while LaGrange stands second at 286.  Rhodes is third at 287, and Centre College and St. John Fisher are deadlocked for fourth with scores of 292.

Senior Johnathan Chen paced the Eagles' effort with a one-over par 72 that tied for 16th place in the 90-player field.  Junior Alex Wunderlich was the next Emory player on the leader board with a 75 that ties for the No. 44 spot. Senior Alec Brerens and Jonathan Gerrard rounded out the team's scorers with each carding a 76.  Senior Will Roth checked in with an 81.  

Sitting in the No. 1 position on the leaderboard after Sunday's action were Ryan Henry of Millsaps and Anthony Maccaglia of Oglethorpe, both of whom fired 69. 

The second round will be held on Monday.
