Emory Golf Concludes Play At Jekyll Island Invitational

The Emory golf team concluded a lengthy spring break travel schedule by participating at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational.  The Eagles tied for 20th place in the 30-team field with the tourney consisting of 54 holes at the 6,700-yard, par 72 Pine Lakes Course at Jekyll Island.

The Eagles tied with Centre College for the No. 20 position on the team leader board with a mark of 919 (301-305-313).  Taking home the No. 1 spot was No. 8-ranked Illinois Wesleyan with a score of 870 (290-292-288).  No. 11 Methodist was runner-up at 880 (291-297-292) while No. 5 St. John Fisher was third with an 881 (293-293-295).

Senior Johnathan Chen was Emory's top performer, finishing with a six-over par 222 (70-76-76) that placed him in a tied for 22nd place out of the 150 players who competed.  Senior Alec Berens wound up with a score of 233 (78-74-81) that tied for 87th place.  Rounding out the team's scorers were junior Alex Wunderlich (79-75-81—235), senior Will Roth (80-81-75—236) and freshman Colby Hipp (74-80-83—237).

The Eagles resume action, April 7-8, when they host the Emory Spring Invitational at the Druid Hills Golf Club.
