The Emory University golf team returns to action this Friday and Saturday (Apr. 18-19) when it participates in the 35^th annual Navy Spring Invitational.  The 36-hole event will be held at the 6,611-yard, par-71 Naval Academy Golf Club in Annapolis, Maryland.

Emory will be the lone Division III institution competing in the 18-team field.  A number of Division I conferences will represented including the Patriot League, Ivy League, Colonial Athletic Association, Northeast and Metro Atlantic.

There have been 19 different team winners over the past 34 Navy Spring Invitationals. The University of Pennsylvania heads into this year's competition as the defending champion after defeating Virginia in a playoff

In its most recent action, Emory finished seventh at its Spring Invitational (Apr. 8) at the nearby Druid Hills Golf Club.  Senior Johnathan Chen highlighted the team's effort by capturing medalist honors after defeating Methodist University's Jeff Wells on the second hole of a playoff.  Both Chen and Wells advanced to the playoff after firing an 18-hole round of three-under 69.
