The Emory University golf team closed out its participation at the Royal Lakes/Oglethorpe Fall Invitational on Tuesday. The 36-hole event was held at the 6,865-yard, par-72 Royal Lakes Golf Club in Flowery Branch.
The Eagles finished in 16th place with a score of 636 (326-310). Taking home the top spot was No. 1-ranked Oglethorpe with a mark of 578 (292-286), edging runner-up Southwestern University by one shot. LaGrange College and Centre College tied for third at 585 while Washington and Lee's 592 rounded out the top five.
Sophomore Sam Nichamin (Brookville, PA) was Emory's top performer, registering a 159 (80-79) that tied for the No. 68 spot in the 94-player field. Junior Vince Sirianni (Blue Bell, PA) and freshman Keenan Hickton (Pittsburgh, PA) were next up on the Eagles' leader board with each player finishing at 160. Senior Alex Wunderlich (Ann Arbor, MI) checked in with a 161 and junior Jonathan Gerrard (Highland Park, IL) at 163.
Emory closes out the fall portion of its schedule, Oct. 20-21, when it competes at the Berry College Fall Invitational.
