Emory Golf Off To Solid Start At Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational

The Emory University golf team turned in its best performance of the fall campaign on Monday during the opening round of the Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational.  The 36-hole event is being played on the 6,924-yard, par-72 Coosa Country Club in Rome, Ga., and hosted by Berry College.

The Eagles stand tied for fourth place out of 21 teams after firing a season-best score of 295.  Dalton State holds down the top spot with a 286 while Coastal Georgia is three shots off the pace at 289. Spring Hill College checked in with a 292, followed by Emory and Greensboro College.

Senior Alex Wunderlich (Ann Arbor, MI) posted the Eagles' top score on Monday with a two-under par 70 that tied his best outing of the fall.  Wunderlich is third out of 112 entries on the individual leader board.  Junior Jonathan Gerrard (Highland Park, IL) and sophomore Sam Nichamin (Blue Bell, PA) each recorded two-over par 74 that placed them 27th.  Rounding out the scorers was freshman Keenan Hickton with a 77.  Junior Jack Williams also competed and carded an 80.
