The Emory men's golf team closed out its participation at the 2015 University Athletic Association Championships on Monday. The 36-hole event was played on the 6,768-yard, par-72 RedTail Golf Club in Sorrento, Florida.
The Eagles recorded a third-place finish, posting a score of 632 (312-320). Rochester took home the top spot with a mark of 611 (311-300) while Carnegie Mellon was second at 616 (313-303). New York University rounded out the field with a 638 (329-309).
Freshman Keenan Hickton (Pittsburgh, PA) turned in Emory's best showing with a nine-over par 153 (75-78), good for a fifth-place tie in the 30-player field. Hickton's performance enabled him to capture First Team All-UAA honors. Senior Alex Wunderlich (Ann Arbor, MI) carded a score of 156 (77-79) that ranked 10th on the leader board, landing him Second Team All-UAA accolades. Rounding out the team's scorers were juniors Jonathan Gerrard (81-79—160) and Vince Sirianni (79-84—163) and sophomore Sam Nichamin (81-84—165). Junior Jack Williams took part as an individual and finished at 168 (79-89).
Emory resumes action, Mar. 13-15, when it competes at the 54-hole Jekyll Island Invitational.
