Emory Golf Completes First Round Of Wolfpack Spring Open

The Emory golf team completed its opening round of action at the Wolfpack Spring Open on Saturday. The 36-hole tourney is being held at the 7,284-yard, par-71 Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, North Carolina. 

The Eagles stand in 10th place after the first 18 holes with a score of 301.  Host North Carolina State holds down the No. 1 spot after recording an eight-under 276, eight shots ahead of the University of Maryland and George Mason.   Pennsylvania and Columbia are deadlocked in fourth place at 290. Emory is the lone Division III institution competing in the 11-team field.  

Senior Alex Wunderlich turned in Emory's best score of the day, carding and even-par 71, good for a 14th-place tie out of 77 players.  Sophomore Sam Nichamin was the next Eagle to show up on the leader board with his three-over par 74 tying for 30th place.  Freshmen Keenan Hickton and Matt Csillag rounded out the team's scorers, each at 78, while junior Vince Sirianni totaled an 82.
