The Emory golf team returns to action this Sunday and Monday (Apr. 10-11) when it hosts its Spring Invitational. The 36-hole tourney will be held at the 6,500-yard, par-70 Smoke Rise Country Club in nearby Stone Mountain.
Emory, ranked 13th nationally in the most recent Division III Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll, will be one of 13 schools that will be competing in this year's event. A total of eight squads are ranked in the Golfweek Poll, while 11 find themselves ranked in the Golfstat Top 25. Among the top-10 ranked programs hitting the course are No. 2 Oglethorpe, No. 5 Berry College, No. 6 Wittenberg, No. 7 Rhodes and No. 8 Huntingdon.
Emory last played at Wynlakes Intercollegiate (Mar. 28-29), recording a runner-up performances out of 12 teams with a 36-hole score of 590, tying the program's 12th-best mark for a 36-hole competition. Freshman Stefano Butti (Palm City, FL) led the Eagle contingent, co-tying for medalist honors with a three-under par 141 (72-69), which tied for the No. 10 position on the school's individual ladder for a 36-hole tournament.
