Emory Golf Dominates All-UAA Team -- Yakubov Named Player and Rookie Of The Year

Five members of the NCAA Tournament-participating Emory University golf squad have been selected to the All-University Athletic Association Team.  The all-league picks were chosen by the conference coaches.  The Eagles saw three members of the program earn first-team status while a pair garnered second-team acclaim.

Freshman Connor Yakubov (Columbus, OH) highlighted the Emory representatives with a first-team nod as well as being chosen as both the league's Player and Rookie of the Year. Heading into this week's NCAA Championships, Yakubov ranked as the team's top scorer, averaging 74.2 strokes over 19 rounds of play. The team's top performer in five of nine competitions, Yakubov has tournament runner-up finishes at the Navy Spring Invitational (Apr. 23-24) and Rhodes College Fall Classic (Sept. 20-21), while posting a third-place effort at the Emory Spring Invitational (Apr. 10-11).  Prior to the NCAAs,  he had come through with a team-best five rounds of par or better, including a three-under par 68 (best mark by an Emory player during the year) on the opening day of action at the Navy Spring Invitational.

Freshman Stefano Butti (Palm City, FL) landed a first-team spot, averaging a 75.0 strokes over 17 rounds of play. Butti, the owner of four rounds of par or better, tied for medalist honors at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate (Mar. 28-29) while also finishing as the Eagles' No. 1 performer at the Callaway Gardens Intercollegiate (Mar. 7-8) and the 54-hole Jekyll Island Collegiate (Mar. 18-20).

Rounding out Emory's first-team selections was freshman Anthony Muscato (Gibsonia, PA). At the onset of the national championships, Muscato stood third on the club's score sheet with an average of 75.3 strokes over 13 rounds of competition. Muscato had strong showings at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate and Emory Spring Invitational, finishing as the team's No. 2 scorer at both events while placing fourth overall out of 63 entries at Wynlakes.

Sophomore Keenan Hickton (Pittsburgh, PA) and freshman Noah Apter (Highland Park, IL) were selected as second-team picks.  Hickton had played in 19 rounds, averaging 76.7 strokes while Apter turned in an average of 77.3 strokes over his 15 rounds of competition.
