Emory Golf Announces Commitments For 2016-17 School Year

Emory head golf coach John Sjoberg has announced that the following student-athletes will be attending Emory in the fall of 2016 and be competing for the Eagles' program.

Timothy Davis
(Fr., Temecula, CA/Great Oak HS) – Four-year varsity member of the golf team at Great Oak High School where he played for head coach Jared Boyatt … Posted 11 career rounds of par or better … Averaged 75.7 strokes his junior season … California Interscholastic Federation Section Central Individual Region winner as a junior … Member of four Southwestern League championship teams … Helped Great Oak HS to three CIF Eastern Team Divisional titles … Runner-up at the 2015 Southwestern League Finals … Paced the team with a score of 71 at the CIF-SS Individual and Team Final in 2016 … Finished as medalist in 10 varsity matches … All-Inland Boys Golf First Team his final two years … Averaged 78.1 strokes per round as a senior … Tied for second place with a 54-hole score of 212 at the 2015 California State Junior Amateur Championship … Placed ninth in the 2016 Challenge Cup AJGA World Series with a 36-hole effort of 145 … Valley News 2015-16 All-Valley Athlete recipient.

Sam Galloway
(Fr., Neenah, WI/Neenah HS) –  Stellar four-year career as a member of the golf team at Neenah High School … Was coached by Tony White … State qualifier in each of his four campaigns … As a junior, he was named the Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin  State Player of the Year … In 2015, he was the medalist in 15 of 18 meets, including victories at the WIAA Sectional and the State Division I Championship … GCAW All-State Team on three occasions including a first-team berth in 2015 and a second-team nod in 2016 … First-team all-conference all four years … Fox Valley Association Player of the Year as a junior and senior … Tabbed by the Appleton Post-Crescent as boys golfer of the year on two occasions … Finished 21st in the state tournament his final year … As a senior, he captured conference (for the second time), regional and sectional titles … Academic All-State all four seasons …  Made first team on the All-Post-Crescent team all four years … Participant in the 2016 AJGA Taylormade-Adidas Junior and in the Western Junior Tournament … Sixth-place finish at the 2015 WSGA Junior Championship.

Sean Murphy (So, Decatur, GA/Marist HS/Georgia State University) – Joins the Emory program after spending two years at Georgia State University … After redshirting as a freshman,  he played in four tournaments for the Panthers during the 2015-16 campaign … Finished with a 78.67 scoring average over 12 rounds of play … Posted a tie for 50th at the Cabo del Sol Intercollegiate, registering rounds of 75 and 76 … Opened the AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic with a 74 … Tied a season-low with a second-round at the Furman Intercollegiate … Made GSU's Dean's List in the fall of 2015 … Played as a prep at Marist High School, helping that program to state titles in 2012, 2013 and 2014 along with Region 6 crowns in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 … Served as captain his senior season and earned GHSA All-State acclaim in 2013 … All-region honoree on three occasions … Was coached at Marist by Matt Romano … 2016 Georgia State Amateur Medalist … Won the 2013 Georgia Junior PGA Championship and competed in the Junior PGA Championship.

Chuck Isgar (Fr., Los Angeles, CA/Windward HS) –  Three-year contributor to the Windward School golf  program … Was coached by Brent Chan … Served as team co-captain as a senior … Averaged 37.0 strokes per nine holes his final year of action … Garnered all-league accolades on three occasions … Helped Windward to a pair of qualifying berths to the CIF Tournament while earning a spot in the individual field on two occasions .. Recorded his school's best-ever individual showing at the Championships High School Golf Tournament, finishing 12th out of 248 competitors … In his final campaign, he was the medalist in two matches … Named his team's MVP in 2016 … Medalist in three matches as a junior … Shot a 68 in the second round of the U.S. Junior Amateur Qualifier in June of 2015 … Posted back-to-back first-place finishes in the 2014 and 2015 Matte Grey Apparel Summer Series … Best 36-hole score was a 134 (69-65) that tied for second place at the 2015 Costa Mesa Championship … Named to the Junior Amateur Golf Scholars All-Star Team.

Matt Organisak (Fr., Sudbury, MA/Lincoln-Sudbury Regional School) –  Played on the golf team at Lincoln-Sudbury High School for four years … Was coached by John Murch … Two-time captain … Led the team in scoring average his junior and senior years … Three-time Dual County League All-Star … Boston Herald All-Scholastic Team his final three years … Metro-West Daily All-Star on three occasions …  Qualified for a berth to compete in the 2016 United States Amateur Championship … Competed for Team Massachusetts in the 2014 and 2015 New England Junior Amateur Invitational … Three-time selection to the Daily News Super Team … Helped Lincoln-Sudbury to a runner-up finish at the Division I North Sectional with a score of 74 … Tied for eighth place overall at the 2015 Massachusetts Division Golf Championship … Led his team to Dual County League title and a win at the Division I North Sectional … Competed in the IMG Junior Worlds as a 14 year old and a 17 year old … Came in second at the 2014 Massachusetts Junior Amateur … Also played No. 1 singles for the Warriors' tennis team.

Vraj Patel (Fr., Rome, GA/Darlington School)  -- Four-year competitor on the golf team at the Darlington School … Was coached by Josh Hembree … Served as team captain his final two seasons … Helped Darlington to a Class AA Region 7AA title and a berth in the state championship his junior year Averaged 75.2 strokes per round his senior season en route to claiming team MVP honors … Earned the Scholar-Athlete Award his final year … Finished second in the 2016 Region 7AA Tournament with a mark of 74 … Team MVP as a junior after registering a mark of 74.5 strokes per 18 holes.  

Leo Rich (Fr., Johns Creek, GA/Johns Creek HS) -- Four-year member of the golf team at Johns Creek High School ... Was coached by Luke Warren ... Served as a co-captain as a junior and a captain his final year ... Averaged 76.3 strokes per round ... Captured all-region honors .. Took home first place at the Oak Mountain Georgia PGA Junior event ... Runner-up honors at the Georgia PGA at the Coosa Country Club (73-66--139). 

The Emory golf team will open its 2016-17 season, Sept. 11-12, at the Rhodes Fall Invitational in Tunica, Mississippi.
