Emory Golf Concludes Opening-Round Play At NCAA D-III Championships

The Emory University golf team completed its first round of action at the NCAA Division III Championships on Tuesday afternoon.  The Eagles' opening day of competition took place on the 7,190-yard, par-72 Champion Trace Course at the Keene Trace Golf Club in Lexington, Kentucky.

With a number of teams still competing at the time of this writing, the Eagles ended the first 18 holes with a team score of thirty-three over par 321. Sophomore Eric Yiu ranked as the squad's scorer with a four-over par 76 (39-37), bouncing back from a double bogey and a bogey on the first two holes, before wrapping up the day with a team-high three birdies. Freshman Logan Ryan shot an 81 while senior Connor Yakubov and junior Matt Organisak rounded out the team's scoring efforts with 82s.  Junior Sam Galloway closed out his round at 83.

Emory will move to the Keene Run Course for Wednesday's second round.  The field will be cut to 18 teams from 42 after 36 holes with the final two rounds returning to the Champion Course.
