The Emory University men's golf team closed out play at the Wynlakes Invitational on Tuesday. The 36-hole competition was played at the 6,979-yard, par-72 Wynlakes Golf and Country Club in Montgomery, Alabama.
The No. 4-ranked Eagles registered a team score of 291 to end the competition at 588, good for fourth place out of 15 teams. No. 6 Piedmont College captured first place with a mark of 566 (281-285) while No. 4 Carnegie Mellon was runner-up at 570 (287-283). Top-ranked Guilford finished six shots ahead of Emory with a 582 (282-300).
Junior Logan Ryan was Emory's top performer on Tuesday, firing a two-under-par 70. Ryan chalked up five birdies on the day, three coming on the front nine and a pair on the back. Senior Davis Hingtgen logged a one-under par 71 that included birdies on the 618-yard 13th and the 548-yard 16th. Junior Max Schwarz finished at 74 while sophomore Grant Drogosch closed out the scoring efforts with a 76. Freshman Logan Lowery shot a 79.
For the tournament, Hingtgen paced the Eagles and tied for ninth out of 72 players with a one-under par 143 (72-71). Hingtgen logged a total of 29 pars over the two days, second most in the field. Ryan concluded the Invitational tied for 16th place with a score of 145 (75-70). Schwarz recorded a 147 (73-74) that slotted him in a deadlock for 22nd-place on the leader board while Drogosch (77-76) and Lowery (79-77) turned in marks of 153 and 156, respectively.
Jason Folker of Carnegie Mellon played his way to medalist honors with a six-under 138.
