Men's Golf Leads Piedmont Invitational Through One Round

Through one round of the Piedmont Invitational, the Emory University men's golf B team leads the field of 12 teams with four players inside the top-10 individually. The tournament is being played at The Orchard Golf & Country Club in Clarkesville, Georgia.

The Eagles posted a seven over-par 295 across the first round, the lone team to shoot under 300, and currently leads the invitational by 13 strokes over Hampden-Sydney and Methodist University's B teams that are tied for second. Host Piedmont stands fourth following one round at 309.

Senior Grant Drogosch is tied atop the individual leaders with his one under-par 71, one of four Eagles inside the top-10. Freshman Brian Hanson, making his collegiate debut, is tied for fifth with his two-over 74 while juniors Tarun Hoskere and Logan Lowery stand in a four-way tie for ninth after carding a three-over 75. Sophomore Prayaag Oruganti rounds out the Emory five as he carded a first round score of 80 and is tied for 26th.

Sophomore Nicholas Nautiyal and freshman Parker Shimp are competing as individuals at the event and through one day of play, Nautiyal stands tied for 33rd at eight-over 81 while Shimp is tied for 48th with his score of 85.

The Eagles will conclude the Piedmont Invitational on Tuesday with rolling tee-times starting at 10:00 AM in Clarkesville.
